On April 10th 2018, the high temperature in Japan was 19℃, which felt a bit chilly against my skin...but it was 28℃ in Hong Kong (^皿^;). And as a lover of summer, when I got off the airplane in Hong Kong, I could feel my heart jumping for joy.

Today I would like to talk about the climate and four seasons in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong has a subtropical climate, with four distinct seasons.

【Spring】March~May
・It is warm with high humidity. At night, it will feel a bit cool. ・Average Temperature:17〜26℃

【Summer】June〜August
・It's hot with high humidity. Most days have clear skies, so you can really soak in the sun. Sometimes there will be rain and thunderstorms. ・Average Temperature:26〜31℃

【Fall】September〜November
・You can probably say this is the season with the most comfortable weather. It's bright outside and the breeze feels heavenly.
・Average Temperature:19〜28℃

【Winter】December〜February
・It's cool and relatively dry. Within the urban areas, sometimes the temperature will fall below 10℃. ・Average Temperature:12〜20℃

As listed above, the temperature in Hong Kong rarely falls below 10℃ or exceeds 32℃. It is a place with a very comfortable living climate.

However, being surrounded by the ocean, the weather is very humid year-round, which may pose a potential problem with mold growth. One of my friends studied abroad in Japan for about a month, and returned home to find that the was some mold growth on the ceilings and floors, and that some white painted areas had darkened. Even if you are just going out for the day, it is recommended to set up your dehumidifier and open your windows.

【Typhoons】
Hong Kong has a rather long typhoon season, ranging from May to November. When a typhoon is near, the Meteorological Agency will issue a warning. They are measured on a scale of 1, 5, or 8, with some typhoons being rated a 9 or higher. If it is a level 8 typhoon, public transportation and stores and such will all close, so many businesses and schools will close as well. Typhoons occur quite often in Hong Kong, similar to Japan's experience with earthquakes. If you are planning to reside in Hong Kong for a long period of time, it wouldn't hurt to start making a habit of checking the information posted regarding typhoons.

At any rate, Hong Kong is considered an international city, acting as a gate for global finance and trade.
The people of Hong Kong may seem ordinary, but they are very calculating and efficient (at least in my personal opinion). I believe people who visit Hong Kong for the first time will be surprised by the speed of daily life there.

Washokujob handles many job postings for Washoku restaurants in Hong Kong, which on average have great pay and benefits for the area. It's close to Japan, and we would love for people to be able to visit Hong Kong and enjoy life there♪
