On August, 25th of this year, the Japan Festival CANADA 2018 was hosted in Ontario. Having been inspired by Japanese cuisine, a Japanese cooking competition was hosted. Finding this to be a spectacular event, Washokujob decided to participate as a sponsor♪
(The above photo is of the famous Niagara Falls, which is truly a sight to behold from up close!)

It was the first time for some of our Washokujob staff to visit Canada as well, and it left quite the good impression! Here is a summary of their experiences about life in Canada.

・The Canadian People When first entering the country at the airport, everybody was kind and courteous.
Even when eating food at a restaurant or shopping in the mall, everybody was very cheerful and friendly.

・Currency As per the 9/2018 exchange rate, 1 CAD is about 85.33JPY.
In Canada, it is also customary to tip for good service. (About 10% of the bill seemed appropriate.)

・Food
This is simply an example of prices for vegetables, meat, and sweets after our staff member visited a Walmart (an American super market that is one of the largest in the world) We calculated prices used 1CAD = 85.33JPY

 > Eggplant(1kg) 5CAD(~427JPY)
 > Frozen Shrimp(70 count) 15CAD(~1,280JPY)
 > Chicken Breast(5 pieces,with 1 piece about 3x the size compared to Japan^^) 10CAD(~853JPY)
 > Pork Loin(1.4kg) 10CAD(~853JPY)
 > Broccoli (1 bag, about 2 clusters) 2.97CAD(~253JPY)
 > Rce(8kg) 13.97CAD(~1,192JPY)
 > Sapporo Shio Ramen(5 packs per bag) 3.85CAD(~329JPY)
 > Mini Tomatoes(0.8kg) 5.97CAD(~510JPY) ※In Japanese supermarkets, 0.1-0.2kg worth of mini tomatoes are about 100JPY
 <<<<<
 > Apples(0.5kg) 0.97CAD(~83JPY)
 > Magnoes(1) 1.47CAD(~125JPY)

In summary, the sizes are much larger than in Japan, and comparatively the prices are cheaper.

It truly is a large place, so without your own vehicle, it may be difficult to travel about.
